Course Overview

Students gain a broad foundation in Christian doctrine while learning to understand theological diversity, form personal convictions, and apply theology in ministry.

Course Topics

  • Introduction and Scripture — Be introduced to systematic theology and examine the inspiration and truthfulness of Scripture.

  • God and the Trinity — Explore the attributes of God and the doctrine of the Trinity.

  • Jesus Christ — Study the person, teaching, work, and fulfillment of Jesus.

  • The Holy Spirit — Examine the person, role, and empowering work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Humanity — Consider the image of God and the fallen state of human beings.

  • Salvation: atonement and benefits — Explore Christ’s atoning work and the benefits of salvation.

  • Salvation: response, free will, and security — Examine differing theological views on human response, freedom, and assurance.

  • Eschatology — Consider different approaches to the doctrine of last things, from symbolic to literal readings.

  • Modern theological movements — Survey major modern theological movements and their significance.
